Abstract

This short video explains why Scotland needs to develop a "Nitrogen budget" or "balance sheet" to tackle Nitrogen pollution across the board.

Nourish Scotland and the Scottish Climate Chaos Coalition (SCCS) are calling on the Scottish Government to increase their ambition in the new Scottish Climate Change Bill to deliver Scotland’s fair share of emissions cuts.

Food and farming have a crucial contribution to make to mitigate and start adapting to climate change. The Scottish Government needs to drive a just transition to a carbon-neutral, resilient farming sector by 2050 at the latest.

As part of this, we want to see the Government commit to developing a "Nitrogen budget" or “balance sheet” for Scotland by 2020 alongside targets and a set of measures to improve nitrogen use efficiency.

This video was produced by Peter Ross (Chiaroscuro - Digital Arts and Media Productions) and commissioned by Nourish Scotland, in collaboration with the Centre for Hydrology & Energy and with support from the RSPB and the Scottish Climate Chaos Coalition.
