Abstract

INMS Guidance Document on Improving Nitrogen Management Using Nitrogen Budgets for Dairy Farms

Dairy production is a crucial source of food and income for millions of farmers worldwide. Nitrogen is a primary nutrient input in dairy systems, enhancing feed and milk production, but inefficient nitrogen use and cycling results in environmental pollution. Standardizing nitrogen budgets, performance indicators and reporting frameworks can benchmark dairy systems and enable the identification of best practices and environmental improvements.

This INMS Guidance Document offers guidance on sustainable nitrogen management and nitrogen use efficiency indicators for the global dairy industry.
