This Law is composed of 11 articles. Article 1 gives definitions and terms. Article 2 deals with fields of application which include chemical and organic fertilizers, and agricultural amendments such as soil amendments. Article 3 defines competencies and duties of the concerned Departments which are to; define allowed kinds of pesticides and agricultural amendments; requirements for the production, use, importation and circulation of pesticides; requirements, conditions and measures for advertising fertilizers; requirements and conditions for the packaging and labelling of fertilizers and agricultural amendments; conditions and measures for the examination, control and analysis of fertilizers and agricultural amendments; and, measures to be taken against fertilizers and agricultural amendments that are incompatible with the provisions of this Law. Production, processing, importation and circulation of fertilizers and agricultural amendments without an authorization, except for fertilizers and agricultural amendments destined to universities and research centres, shall be prohibited (art. 4). All concerned persons residing in UAE shall regulate their position according to the provisions of this Law within 6 months from the date of entry into force of it (art. 6). Article 8 deals with offences and penalties. Fees and royalties shall be fixed by a resolution of the Council of Ministries (art. 9). The Minister of Agriculture and Fish Resources shall issue the necessary resolutions and regulation for the implementation of this Law.
