This Regulation lays down requirements for the production of safe vegetables, provides for the inspection and supervision of safe vegetable products, and for procedures for the certification of safe vegetables producing organizations.; Safe vegetables are fresh vegetables which are produced, harvested, processed, packaged and preserved in accordance with the technical process to ensure that residues of toxic chemicals are below the permitted maximum levels. For the production of safe vegetables certain conditions shall be satisfied including: (a) cultivation land shall not be directly affected by wastes and shall have physical, chemical and biological characteristics that suit the growth of vegetables; (b) the use of organic fertilizers or fertilizers allowed for production and business in Viet Nam; (c) sources of water for irrigation must meet the standards for irrigating water and shall be inspected regularly; (d) the use of specific safe vegetables farming techniques; (e) the application of integrated pest management (IPM) techniques for disease prevention and elimination; etc.
