This Act consisting of 7 articles and 2 Annexes aims at: prohibiting the use of sewage in a way that could damage public health or surface and ground water resources, or cause soil damage or its deterioration or contamination and affecting productivity or the food chain; determining methods and acceptable levels of wastewater treatment and their reuse for agricultural irrigation; developing safe standards in using treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation; protecting public health from the harmful effects of pollution caused by sewage used for agricultural irrigation; and achieving maximum use of treated water as a non-traditional sources of water. The Act indicates conditions for using treated wastewater in agriculture. Ministries of Agriculture, Environment and Water Resources shall analyze samples of water to verify their compliance with the required standards. Annex 1 and 2 list the standards for treated wastewater used for agricultural irrigation.
