Funded by UNEP/GEF, the International Nitrogen Assessment (INA) is currently under preparation and set for publication by Cambridge University Press in 2027.
With approx 350 authors, 12 editors and 28 chapters spread across 5 parts, the INA will be a showcase for multi-stakeholder engagement, internationally relevant science and the benefits of a collaborative and diverse approach to solving the nitrogen challenge.
The INA will be organized into 5 parts:
- The global nitrogen challenge: Problem definition
- Foundations for assessing the nitrogen cycle
- Global integrated assessment across the nitrogen cycle
- Nitrogen challenges and opportunities for key world regions
- Grasping the future challenge
The INA was formally welcomed by UN Member States at UNEA 5.2 in 2022. As a result, its high-profile publication will directly support the implementation of the second Resolution on Sustainable Nitrogen Management (UNEP/EA.5/Res.2) .
