Global Environment Facility

Global Environment Facility (GEF) are the overall funders of the 'Towards INMS' project. GEF support is provided to government agencies, civil society organizations, private sector companies, research institutions, among the broad diversity of potential partners, to implement projects and programs in recipient countries.

 

United Nations Environment Programme

UNEP is the implementing agency for the project, ensuring coordination with GPA and liaison with other international frameworks. Input through secretariat for the GPNM.

 

The UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology

The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH), is the Executing Agency for the project, and represents the interests of the International Nitrogen Initiative. UKCEH provides the Project Coordination Unit, project direction and coordination, which includes financial management.

 

International Nitrogen Initiative

The International Nitrogen Initiative (INI) is an international program, set up in 2003 under sponsorship of the Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE) and from the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP). The key aims of the INI are to optimize nitrogen’s beneficial role in sustainable food production, and minimize nitrogen’s negative effects on human health and the environment resulting from food and energy production.
